Since completing 1995’s ‘Big Love (intro)’, Ali Campbell fulfilled their contract with EMI Records and where under no obligation to release another album. On Big Love album, Ali Campbell have renewed their membership in the ‘if it ain’t broke…’ school of songwriting. Since Ali Campbell last CD (Big Love) on EMI Records back in 1995, I have felt a massive void in my life. Overall, I would highly recommend Big Love CD.
is almost impossible to review.
In Happiness you won’t find any flashy solos. That Look In Your Eye is a bit of a show-tune. Let Your Yeah Be Yeah (4:16) - awsome. This is one of those tracks that should not be judged after the first hearing. Somethin’ Stupid is so unique, as each one of the songs is. It took me a little time but I ended up loving Big Love. You Could Meet Somebody - another great track from the Big Love album. Overall a nice softer song. Still going through Big Love and coming to appreciate Pay The Rent more and more with every listen. I believe Drive It Home is one of the most amazing, heartfelt songs ever written. Ali Campbell allows each song to breathe and flourish.
