This nine-song debut EP shows the promise that Baby Face Willette has. Since Baby Face Willette last CD (Face to Face) on Mute Records back in 1997, I have felt a massive void in my life. When you buy a Baby Face Willette album, you know exactly what you’re getting! Such great and happy songs.
without a doubt is the standout song of Face to Face.
Goin’ Down is a bit different from Baby Face Willette stereotypical stuff. Whatever Lola Wants can be hardly overrated by any means; this is what Baby Face Willette is all about. The beautiful sound of this track makes you want to close your eyes and sway away with the music. Some of the arrangements found on Face to Face are surprisingly edgy. High ‘N Low make listening to Baby Face Willette like being in some sort of time warp. Best song on the album, love it. Somethin’ Strange (Alt Tk) is simple, dignified and effective, Baby Face Willette refusing to over-emote, and demonstrating that less is more.
