Ivan Grach has compared writing for Black and Brown’s new album to that on ‘File Under Funk’ - but has declared the lyrics will be even more terrifying. Self-described as Acid Jazz with lots of words, Black and Brown comes out swinging on perhaps his best album to date. This album has some very good songs like Tribal Boogaloo and Never Be There. Black and Brown is one of my favourite bands of all time.
pretty much defines how I feel spiritually.
Never Be There - isn’t quite as powerful vocally, but has a beautiful melody. To Funky In Here (5:32) Not one of my favorites, but for a lot of people this is one of their best songs. Simple and heartfelt closing track Tribal Boogaloo (Reprise) closes File Under Funk on a high note. New Delight is a song you cannot help but think about at odd moments in your day. I loved In China the first time I heard it. Afro T (Jazzy Stuff) is the first taste of the new album. Manic Samba is the song that really did it for me. We Gotta Party is a very catchy tune. Just Nice is possibly the best song Black and Brown has come up. Although I prefer the faster paced music, I think Jurassik Bonus is my favorite song on File Under Funk. Ink is beautiful, yet underrated track. I listened to the opening track Thrill Me and liked it a lot. I love the melodic melody of Afro T (Hard Take) and to this day it makes me feel good. It’s so catchy, it’s amazing. Don’t judge The Chinese Jungle on the first listening.
