Nowhere is this more so than on their re-working of Blind Boy Fuller and Sonny Terry on ‘Bye Bye Baby Blues - Blind Boy Fuller/Sonny Terry’. Blind Boy Fuller and Sonny Terry’s debut, ‘Harmonica and Guitar Blues 1937-1945′, does not fit easily into one genre. Blind Boy Fuller and Sonny Terry was a flawless and timeless record. Not surprising from Blind Boy Fuller and Sonny Terry and Harmonica and Guitar Blues 1937-1945 together. One of Blind Boy Fuller and Sonny Terry’s best albums yet.
- My least favorite song on this album.
Mistreater, You’re Going To Be Sorry - Blind Boy Fuller/Sonny Terry - arguably the best track on Harmonica and Guitar Blues 1937-1945 album. Mean And No Good Woman - Blind Boy Fuller/Sonny Terry makes a person feel exquisite. Pistol Slapper Blues - Blind Boy Fuller/Sonny Terry is sonically very melodic with nice haunting verses. Stop Jivin’ Me Mama - Blind Boy Fuller/Sonny Terry - This one makes me want to not only sing along. Big House Bound - Blind Boy Fuller/Sonny Terry - I like this one. Train Whistle Blues - Sonny Terry has to be one of the most beautiful tracks on the entire album. New Love Blues - Sonny Terry (2:44) Not one of my favorites, but for a lot of people this is one of their best songs. Blind Boy Fuller and Sonny Terry sings I’m A Stranger Here - Blind Boy Fuller/Sonny Terry/Oh Red in such a comforting, confident voice that you can’t help but be moved. I Want Some Of Your Pie - Blind Boy Fuller/Sonny Terry/Oh Red (2:45) - Oh, this is one of my favorites! Such hits like I Don’t Care How Long - Blind Boy Fuller/Sonny Terry/Oh Red will leave you hooked. Blues And Worried Man - Blind Boy Fuller/Sonny Terry/Oh Red - This one is lively and fun. I now have Harmonica And Washboard Breakdown - Sonny Terry/Oh Red as one of my personal favorites. Harmonica Blues - Sonny Terry/Oh Red has a gorgeous instrumental sound, which lets Blind Boy Fuller and Sonny Terry’s strong vocals come to the fore. When listening to Somebody’s Been Talkin’ - Blind Boy Fuller/Sonny Terry/Oh Red, it gives me such an energy rush it’s unbelievable. This track is full of harmonies and gets Harmonica and Guitar Blues 1937-1945 off to a relaxing start. Twelve Gates To The City - Blind Boy Fuller/Sonny Terry/Oh Red is a romantic if not formulaic ditty. This song is dynamic and dramatic. You Got To Have Your Dollar - Blind Boy Fuller/Sonny Terry/Oh Red is cool and different song. Blowing The Blues - Blind Boy Fuller/Sonny Terry/Oh Red is perhaps one of the best tracks of the past decade. Within the first few notes of Bus Rider Blues - Blind Boy Fuller/Sonny Terry/Oh Red it’s perfectly clear that Blind Boy Fuller and Sonny Terry is living this song. Once Precious Lord - Blind Boy Fuller/Sonny Terry/Oh Red gets in your head, it will NEVER leave. Lonesome Train - Sonny Terry/Woody Guthrie is a bit of a show-tune. This is probably my favorite song on the album. Blind Boy Fuller and Sonny Terry must have run out of lyrics on the next track Sweet Woman - Sonny Terry/Brownie McGhee. Fox Chase - Sonny Terry/Brownie McGhee is astounding work of Blind Boy Fuller and Sonny Terry.
