Cal Tjader’s debut, ‘Jazz ‘Round Midnight’, does not fit easily into one genre. Since Cal Tjader last CD (Jazz ‘Round Midnight) on ForeFront Records back in 1996, I have felt a massive void in my life. There is so much to love about Cal Tjader, starting with incredible harmonies, songwriting chops and stellar stage presence. Check it every song is worth the money for the Jazz ‘Round Midnight CD!

Reza is the album’s biggest hit, I think. The sound in ‘Round Midnight is really warm and Cal Tjader’s signature voice is still very much present. Cal Tjader is hitting on all cylinders in Spring Is Here. Sunset Boulevard is the marvelous blend of moody yet optimistic tunes. Vocal harmonies in this track are great and song structure is just right. This is one hell of a track. Son’e is astounding. Fuji is one of the best records ever. On Green Dolphin Street - Check out that bassline! Some call Sally’s Tomato from Jazz ‘Round Midnight as a quiet invitation of an artist to sit and listen. Only one song from Jazz ‘Round Midnight named The Loner really got me. Misty - This happy song is an ode to optimism and an anthem. Music of Tanya is gentle, never overbearing. The Party’s Over is a song that will not reduce you to tears but leave you thinking long after Jazz ‘Round Midnight have ended. Strong, powerful vocals of Cal Tjader in Somewhere In The Night are very impressive.
