Jim Jones has compared writing for Coalesce’s new album to that on ‘Give Them Rope’ - but has declared the lyrics will be even more terrifying. Coalesce’s debut, ‘Give Them Rope’, does not fit easily into one genre. This compilation contains all of the biggest hits by Coalesce. Give Them Rope is not something you should pass up.
was the first single release from the album Give Them Rope.
One on the Ground is maybe the best thing the group’s ever done. Cut to Length is a striking and quite long song. I like to sing along with For All You Are, though I mess up the lyrics sometimes. This track, in particular, has the kind of undeniably catchy flavor. You have to get essence of the Chain Smoking’s power, to truly understand this masterpiece. The first time I listened to Did It Pay the Rent I was struck by its marvelous sound. Every Reason To is the astounding blend of moody yet optimistic tunes. I Am Not the First is a fine track on any terms. This Is the Last is a medium tempo tune. I Took a Year - is a breath or fresh air compared to many previous songs of Coalesce.
