It’s a brave and brilliant refocusing of Cocteau Twins energies, virtually a rebirth. Since Cocteau Twins last CD (The Forgotten 4AD Tracks) on EMI Records back in 1996, I have felt a massive void in my life. The Forgotten 4AD Tracks isn’t so much a record, as a great effort at dragging you into another world. IT makes me wanna dance!
is the most memorable and marvelous.
Crushed is a song that definitely grows on you and becomes an album favorite. Dials is flawed, nonetheless pretty good song. Hazel is one of the most beautiful songs ever to grace my stereo. The Forgotten 4AD Tracks couldn’t start better than with the up up-beat title track High Monkey Monk. It’s All But An Ark Lark is one of the best records ever. Kookaburra - My least favorite song on this album. Laugh Lines is one of the coolest songs Cocteau Twins has ever recorded. This is one hell of a track. This song is like perfectly aged vintage bordeaux wine not a tequila shot. Oomingmak is a medium tempo tune. Orange Appled (2:50) Not one of my favorites, but for a lot of people this is one of their best songs. Song Pearly-Dewdrops ‘Drops (12 Ve is actually a funny song. Pepperment Pig (12 Version) is an upbeat song with a constant snare hit. Cocteau Twins offers the kind of music here that makes you reflect on yourself. Cocteau Twins emotions are reflected through Sigh’s Smell Of Farewell. From the moment you listen to Those Eyes, That Mouth you’re hooked. Watchlar defines beauty, yet is as unforgiving as an astringent stone.
