Since Colosseum last CD (Bread and Circuses) on Mute Records back in 1997, I have felt a massive void in my life. Colosseum’s debut, ‘Bread and Circuses’, does not fit easily into one genre. It has been eight years Colosseum’ last studio CD, “Bread and Circuses” which won Array Academy Awards and was nominated for album of the year. This album is a scorcher!
is a nice, innocuous song, and much better than anything Colosseum released so far.
|titile| is quite refreshing and sets the tone for what is going on in Bread and Circuses. This track is almost perfect, instrumentals and vocals combine awesomely. High Time - Okay, I just talked about depth. Big Deal is sonically very melodic with nice haunting verses. The song feels complete. No Pleasin’ make listening to Colosseum like being in some sort of time warp. Some call I Could Tell You Tales from Bread and Circuses as a quiet invitation of an artist to sit and listen. Storms Behind The Breeze is such a exquisite and optimistic song that things can get just better. Colosseum must have run out of lyrics on the next track The One That Got Away (Instr.). The Other Side Of The Sky is a very good song maybe surprisingly better than you at first might’ve imagined.
