This disc has all of the essential Common classics. Common had quite a long carriere and they made many hits. This -song debut EP shows the promise that Common has. If I may, I suggest “Introspective”. That one song is amazing!
This song is like perfectly aged vintage bordeaux wine not a tequila shot.
Invocation is one of the best records ever. Album opener Real Nigga Quotes is a bright, upbeat ditty. Retrospect For Life had me crying as I was able to relate so well. Gettin’ Down At The Amphitheater has a gorgeous instrumental sound, which lets Common’s strong vocals come to the fore. Food For Funk have really caught my ear and imagination. G.O.D. (Gaining One’s Definition) is just simply stunning. It’s a great pleasure to listen to My City from the beginning to the end. Hungry is absolutely incredible. All Night Long is a romantic if not formulaic ditty. Best song on the album, love it. Once Stolen Moments Pt. ll gets in your head, it will NEVER leave. 1 ‘2 Many… is an underrated song: I like its lyrics and melody a lot. Stolen Moments Pt. lll (Intro/Outro) is one of these floating songs. Making A Name For Ourselves presents the perfect mix of instruments on One Day It’ll All Make Sense. The song Reminding Me (Of Sef) ending is my favorite… so catchy! Pop’s Rap Part 2/Fatherhood is simply exquisite.
