Curtis Mayfield’s debut, ‘New World Order’, does not fit easily into one genre. Since Curtis Mayfield last CD (New World Order) on Virgin Records back in 1996, I have felt a massive void in my life. This is one of the best Cd’s Curtis Mayfield has dropped to date. Overall, I would highly recommend New World Order CD.
Simple and heartfelt closing track closes New World Order on a high note.
Ms. Martha is a cool song and it grows on you. Back To Living Again defines beauty, yet is as unforgiving as an astringent stone. Still going through New World Order and coming to appreciate No One Knows About A Good Thing (You Don’t Have To Cry) more and more with every listen. I believe Just A Little Bit Of Love is one of the most exquisite, heartfelt songs ever written. I’ve found myself listening to We People Who Are Darker Than Blue back to back and back many times. This track is possibly the biggest guilty pleasure on New World Order. Although Here But I’m Gone is very melodic it is far from sad. It Was Love That We Needed is a song that will not reduce you to tears but leave you thinking long after New World Order have ended. It’s very catchy and easy to get into which is what you want in a song. The Girl I Find Stays On My Mind is really a nice song to relax and listen too. From the moment you listen to Let’s Not Forget you’re hooked. Oh So Beautiful is maybe the best thing the group’s ever done.
