Since Diamanda Galas last CD (The Sporting Life) on Capitol Records back in 1994, I have felt a massive void in my life. This album has some very good songs like Skotoseme and Do You Take This Man. Since completing 1994’s ‘Skotoseme’, Diamanda Galas fulfilled their contract with Capitol Records and where under no obligation to release another album. This album is a scorcher!
is maybe the best thing the group’s ever done.
This is the most melodic ambitious and satisfying track in The Sporting Life. Once you hear Dark End Of The Street, you will listen to it over and over. You’re Mine - This one is what it is: a powerful, primal invitation to love. Tony is sonically very melodic with nice haunting verses. I loved Devil’s Rodeo the first time I heard it. I can’t stop playing The Sporting Life. The first time I listened to Baby’s Insane I was struck by its gorgeous sound. Last Man Down is the most memorable and amazing. Hex is one of the most beautiful songs ever to grace my stereo. Hex (La Diabla Mix) is an underrated song: I like its lyrics and melody a lot.
