Lead single “Momes de la Cloche” and “Java de Cezigue” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. Edith Piaf was a flawless and timeless record. Not surprising from Edith Piaf and Edith Piaf, Vol. 1: 1936 together. While no new Edith Piaf album is in sight, the artist has been road testing new songs during 1996 tour in Europe. IT makes me wanna dance!
No Edith Piaf song has come close to capturing my attention as did.
Some of the arrangements found on Edith Piaf, Vol. 1: 1936 are surprisingly edgy. Etranger on Edith Piaf, Vol. 1: 1936 is solid and easy to listen to. Mon Apero is a very catchy tune. It’s such an underrated song. Fille et le Chien - A classic Edith Piaf track. Hiboux stands out to me for its audacious melody and sheer beauty. I can’t stop playing Fais-Moi Valser. Quand Meme - This is a very lively song. In J’Suis Mordue full palet of sound is used by Edith Piaf to accentuate the presentation. One of the songs that always stick in my mind is Julie Jolie because the melody in the chorus is so good. I can’t stop humming along Va Danser. Deux Menetriers sets the tone for the entire album. Mon Amant de la Coloniale is one of the more up-tempo songs on Edith Piaf, Vol. 1: 1936. This track is a killer, it just grabs you instantly. Other tracks are good but your best bet is to stick with Il N’Est Pas Distingue. Album opener Chand d’Habits is a bright, upbeat ditty. Petite Boutique is almost impossible to review.
