Now signed to Ensemble Unicorn’s Savoy Records, the title track from second album “Music of the Troubadours (Early Music; NAXOS 8.554257)” leads Ensemble Unicorn’s back-to-school campaign. Ensemble Unicorn’s debut, ‘Music of the Troubadours (Early Music; NAXOS 8.554257)’, does not fit easily into one genre. Nowhere is this more so than on their re-working of Ensemble Unicorn on ‘Berenguier de Palou (fl. early 12th century): Tant m’abelis’. IT makes me wanna dance!
This track is a killer, it just grabs you instantly.
Anon. (12th century): Domna, pos vos ay chaisda (instrumental) is a great opener for Music of the Troubadours (Early Music; NAXOS 8.554257). Giraut de Bornelh /c.1140-c.1200): Non puesc sofrir; Peire Cardenal (?1180-?1278): Ar me puesc (contrafactum) to me is the best you can get from Ensemble Unicorn. Album opener Bujo (instrumental) is a bright, upbeat ditty. In this song fans will recognize the unique vocals of Ensemble Unicorn. All of songs on Music of the Troubadours (Early Music; NAXOS 8.554257) and have something to say letting alone Ramon Lull (c.1232-1315): Cantaben els osells. This is one of those tracks that should not be judged after the first hearing. Ginraut de Bornelh: Reis glorios - This one is what it is: a powerful, primal invitation to love. Ensemble Unicorn rocks harder than ever with Anon. (Monastery of Sant Joan de les Abadesses): Ara lausatz, lausat, lausat. Guiraut Riquier (c.1230-c.1300): Humils forfaitz is the astounding blend of moody yet optimistic tunes. Overall a nice softer song. Jaufre Rudel (fl. mid-12 century): Lanquan li jorn - another great track from the Music of the Troubadours (Early Music; NAXOS 8.554257) album.
