four years ago, Eric B. and Rakim briefly lived up to their terrific name, with an insanely addictive hit single called “Eric B. Is On The Cut”. On Paid in Full album, Eric B. and Rakim have renewed their membership in the ‘if it ain’t broke…’ school of songwriting. After debuting at No. 1 last week, Eric B. and Rakim’s album Paid in Full falls to No. 2 with 128,000, a sales slide of 76%. This is one of the best cd’s i have heard through the whole thing.

Within the first few notes of Eric B. Is On The Cut it’s perfectly clear that Eric B. and Rakim is living this song. My Melody had me crying as I was able to relate so well. I Know You Got Soul is so unique, as each one of the songs is. This is one hell of a track. Album opener Paid In Full is a bright, upbeat ditty. I now have As The Rhyme Goes On as one of my personal favorites. The first time I listened to Chinese Arithmetic I was struck by its astounding sound. Vocal harmonies in this track are great and song structure is just right. Extended Beat rocked my world when I popped it into my car stereo.
