Floodgate was a flawless and timeless record. Not surprising from Floodgate and Penalty together. Bun B. Hear has compared writing for Floodgate’s new album to that on ‘Penalty’ - but has declared the lyrics will be even more terrifying. There is so much to love about Floodgate, starting with incredible harmonies, songwriting chops and stellar stage presence. Unappreciated gift to Metal: Doom
is another favourite of mine.
I like the idea behind Through My Days Into Night. Before The Line Divides is nothing short of a modern masterpiece. I think Those Days is the best song Floodgate has ever done. In Till My Soil Floodgate spins a tale you want to hear to the end. Whole is the funkiest number on the album. The opening track Second Guesser is very much like you would expect from other albums. Music of Running With Sodden Legs is gentle, never overbearing. Floodgate rocks harder than ever with Imitation Salvation. Feel You Burn is maybe the best thing the group’s ever done. Black With Sin is the cool blend of moody yet optimistic tunes.
