ten years ago, Laurent Garnier briefly lived up to their terrific name, with an insanely addictive hit single called “Sweet Mellow D”. This is the first studio album from Laurent Garnier since bad diagnosis in 1997. This fifteen-song debut EP shows the promise that Laurent Garnier has. Deep Sea Diving and Sweet Mellow D is really good.
is just a great song and one well worth taking the time to give it a good listen.
This song has very few things relative to that of it’s predecessor. Although Crispy Bacon is very melodic it is far from sad. For Max is a medium tempo tune. I now have The Hoe as one of my personal favorites. Mid Summer Night - is a breath or fresh air compared to many previous songs of Laurent Garnier. Kall It! is worth the money. La Minute Du Repondeur Le Plus Casse-Couilles as a highlight of 30 contains a ton of marvelous melodies. After you’ve listened to Theme from Larry’s Dub, most everything else can’t hold up and is second rate. Feel the Fire is a good listen every once in a while. As always, Laurent Garnier’s lyrics are worth listening to again and again. I can’t stop humming along I Funk Up. Track is the albums lead single as well as biggest hit. Within the first few notes of Le Voyage De Simone it’s perfectly clear that Laurent Garnier is living this song.
