This disc has all of the essential Leo Ferre classics. It’s a brave and brilliant refocusing of Leo Ferre energies, virtually a rebirth. ‘En Public Au TLP Dejazet’ kicks the album off with a blast of pure pop energy. Smart music for smart people.
is worth the money.
The opening track La Vie Moderne is very much like you would expect from other albums. Y’en A Marre is a good listen every once in a while. Leo Ferre is one of artists that allow his songs like Les Anarchistes to stand on their own and be heard. I came to like L’age Dor. La Chambre has a gorgeous instrumental sound, which lets Leo Ferre’s strong vocals come to the fore. This is probably my favorite song on the album. I love the melodic melody of Vingt Ans and to this day it makes me feel good. This track is a killer, it just grabs you instantly. Les Eterangers gets you up and jumping. Comme A Ostende is such a cool and optimistic song that things can get just better. In La Memoire Et La Mer full palet of sound is used by Leo Ferre to accentuate the presentation. Leo Ferre breathes new life into the music in La Flamenco De Paris. I find myself hearing bits of Lorsque Tu Me Liras here and there throughout my waking hours. Je T’aime - A strong beat. Le Bateau Espagnol without a doubt is the standout song of En Public Au TLP Dejazet. L’etang Chimerique defines beauty, yet is as unforgiving as an astringent stone.
