While no new Louisiana Red album is in sight, the artist has been road testing new songs during 1997 tour in Asia. This album has some very good songs like First Degree and Bring Me My Machine Gun. It’s a brave and brilliant refocusing of Louisiana Red energies, virtually a rebirth. This is one of the best cd’s i have heard through the whole thing.
Best song on the album, love it.
From the moment you listen to Bring Me My Machine Gun you’re hooked. This song is like perfectly aged vintage bordeaux wine not a tequila shot. In Stole from Me it becomes nowhere more obvious that Louisiana Red has yet to define own style. Best song on the album, love it. After you’ve listened to Walked All Night Long, most everything else can’t hold up and is second rate. Cold White Sheet is a song to savor, to listen to from every angle. Pinetop presents the cool mix of instruments on Walked All Night Long. I like the idea behind Going Train Blues. I’ll Pay the Price is an incredible song that has everything it needs to be another favorite track. Going Down Georgia is a bit different from Louisiana Red stereotypical stuff. This track is a fabulous selection of easy listening, suitable for any age, taste or occasion. I believe Mary is one of the most cool, heartfelt songs ever written. Got a Gal With a Dog Won’t Bark is a striking and quite long song. First time I heard The Whole World was on radio driving in my car and sonically it just sounded amazing.
