For older fans Quartet will put a massive smile accross your face. This disc has all of the essential Pat Metheny classics. Since completing 1996’s ‘Introduction’, Pat Metheny fulfilled their contract with Capitol Records and where under no obligation to release another album. This album is a scorcher!
Some call from Quartet as a quiet invitation of an artist to sit and listen.
When I listen to When We Were Free in my car when traffic ain’t going so good. Montevideo - This one is lively and fun. Pat Metheny sings his heart out in Take Me There. Seven Days sets the tone for the entire album. Oceania is a fine track on any terms. Dismantling Utopia is, without a doubt, my favorite song, ever. Double Blind - This one is what it is: a powerful, primal invitation to love. Although Second Thought is very melodic it is far from sad. Mojave (3:38) Not one of my favorites, but for a lot of people this is one of their best songs. Awesome song is really all that you can say about it. Glacier is probably one of Pat Metheny’s biggest successes for the album - it’s lovely to listen to. Language Of Time - A catchy, upbeat tune. Pat Metheny rocks harder than ever with Sometimes I See. Although I prefer the faster paced music, I think As I Am is my favorite song on Quartet.
