Stanley Donwood has compared writing for Pennywise’s new album to that on ‘Full Circle’ - but has declared the lyrics will be even more terrifying. There is so much to love about Pennywise, starting with incredible harmonies, songwriting chops and stellar stage presence. This is the first studio album from Pennywise since bad diagnosis in 1997. This is what good Punk should be.
can be hardly overrated by any means; this is what Pennywise is all about.
After about the third Date With Destiny listen through, I began to believe this song is Pennywise’s essence. Get A Life - This one has a powerful beat and a good melody. Society to me is the best you can get from Pennywise. Final Day as well as many of songs is a short story in miniature. I have all of Pennywise’s tracks and Broken is probably the most his introspective effort. In this song fans will recognize the unique vocals of Pennywise. You’ll Never Make It is such a astounding and optimistic song that things can get just better. I came to like Every Time. It’s such an underrated song. Pennywise allows each song to breathe and flourish. I loved Go Away the first time I heard it. Pennywise offers the kind of music here that makes you reflect on yourself. It is succeeded by an outstanding track, however: Bro Hymn, which shows, blatantly, how much Pennywise has evolved as a singer.
