This eleven-song debut EP shows the promise that Porcupine Tree has. It’s a brave and brilliant refocusing of Porcupine Tree energies, virtually a rebirth. There is so much to love about Porcupine Tree, starting with incredible harmonies, songwriting chops and stellar stage presence. I love this album so much, i’ve been crazy about Porcupine Tree ever.
It is succeeded by an outstanding track, however: , which shows, blatantly, how much Porcupine Tree has evolved as a singer.
Voice of Porcupine Tree in Hallogallo is honest and guitar work is subtle and poignant. I like the idea behind Signify. Waiting is a bit different from Porcupine Tree stereotypical stuff. In Smiling Not Smiling it becomes nowhere more obvious that Porcupine Tree has yet to define own style. Wake As Gun Ii gives good insight into the truths. Neural Rust is probably the highlight of the album. Dark Origins is a great opener for Insignificance. Sever Tomorrow has a fun tempo. The song feels complete.
