It’s a brave and brilliant refocusing of Red Snapper energies, virtually a rebirth. Self-described as Acid Jazz with lots of words, Red Snapper comes out swinging on perhaps his best album to date. This thirteen-song debut EP shows the promise that Red Snapper has. Snapper and One Legged Low Frequency Guy is really good.
- A catchy, upbeat tune.
In One Legged Low Frequency Guy the light shines equally on lyrics, vocals and instrumentation. Red Snapper must have run out of lyrics on the next track Swank. I listened to the opening track Hot Flush and liked it a lot. Cortina is a very catchy tune. Hot Flush (Sabres Of Paradise Remix) is the song that really did it for me. As always, Red Snapper’s lyrics are worth listening to again and again. Wesley Don’t Surf is worth the money. Lobster is a gorgeous sing-along. I can’t stop playing Son Of Mook. I love the melodic melody of Son Of Mook (Depth Charge Mix) and to this day it makes me feel good. Get Some Sleep Tiger (Plaid Mix) rocked my world when I popped it into my car stereo.
