Since completing 1997’s ‘Man Or Beast (End Of The M …’, Shelter fulfilled their contract with EMI Records and where under no obligation to release another album. On Beyond Planet Earth album, Shelter have renewed their membership in the ‘if it ain’t broke…’ school of songwriting. While no new Shelter album is in sight, the artist has been road testing new songs during 1997 tour in North America. Beyond Planet Earth is not something you should pass up.
() - awsome.
Music of Eleventh Day Of The Moon is gentle, never overbearing. In Praise Of Others is a song to savor, to listen to from every angle. Put Man Or Beast into car stereo for your highway driving Time’s Ticking Away good vocals. Beyond Planet Earth is a song that will not reduce you to tears but leave you thinking long after Beyond Planet Earth have ended. Don’t judge Helpless on the first listening. After you’ve listened to Whole Wide World, most everything else can’t hold up and is second rate. Refusal is perhaps one of the best tracks of the past decade. Hated To Love is another favourite of mine. Album opener Rejuvenate is a bright, upbeat ditty. Still going through Beyond Planet Earth and coming to appreciate Alone On My Birthday more and more with every listen. I Know So Little (So Well) is a great song to contemplate the modern music and what it really is all about. I find myself hearing bits of Revealed In Reflection here and there throughout my waking hours.
