The Definition Of Soul isn’t so much a record, as a great effort at dragging you into another world. Nowhere is this more so than on their re-working of Solomon Burke on ‘Why Can’t We Come Together’. After seeing Why Can’t We Come Together, I had to have a good Solomon Burke cd. Exciting stuff.
The song feels complete.
You Time To Cry is a very catchy tune. Sweet Spirit is sonically very melodic with nice haunting verses. You’re The One is simply astounding. A great put together song. Oooooo You is cool song though, very addictive. Everybody’s Got A Game - For me, this is the best of the album. Some call Today Is Your Birthday from The Definition Of Soul as a quiet invitation of an artist to sit and listen. Use Me, But Leave My Mind Alone have really caught my ear and imagination. It’s So Hard is a song that takes you on the journey before it reaches the conclusion. This song is like perfectly aged vintage bordeaux wine not a tequila shot.
