Since completing 1995’s ‘Flesh Crucifix’, Sopor Aeternus fulfilled their contract with Capitol Records and where under no obligation to release another album. I am not a real Gothic music type of person, but i have to admit ‘Todeswunsch’ really is amazing. There were many famous songs of Sopor Aeternus available. I Love Todeswunsch from start to finish!
This song has very few things relative to that of it’s predecessor.
Die Bruderschaft Des Schmerzes is exquisite and different song. Blew our minds when we first heard Shadowsphere I. Shadowsphere II is a romantic if not formulaic ditty. Saltatio Crudelitatis is astounding. Best song on the album, love it. Soror Sui Excidium is a marvelous, simple song by Sopor Aeternus at the top of his game. Le Theatre De La Blessure Sacree is so unique, as each one of the songs is. The Devil’s Instrument is, without a doubt, my favorite song, ever. Todeswunsch (version) one of the most beautiful songs i’ve ever heard. I can’t stop humming along Drama Der Geschlechtslosigkeit (part I). This is one hell of a track. Sopor Aeternus offers the kind of music here that makes you reflect on yourself. Saturn - Impressionen is simply exquisite. Musically Somnabulists Secret Bardo-Life is superior to other tracks in Todeswunsch. Not Dead But Dying is an incredible song that has everything it needs to be another favorite track. It’s very catchy and easy to get into which is what you want in a song. This Profane Finality - Okay, I just talked about depth. This track is a fabulous selection of easy listening, suitable for any age, taste or occasion.
