Since Soul Ballet last CD (Man and Woman) on EMI Records back in 1997, I have felt a massive void in my life. This album has some very good songs like Love, Juliet and N.Y.C. Tripin. Nowhere is this more so than on their re-working of Soul Ballet on ‘Love, Juliet’. I greatly enjoyed this CD.
is worth the money.
Although I prefer the faster paced music, I think N.Y.C. Tripin is my favorite song on Man and Woman. I like Exotique because it’s extremely catchy and has awesome drumming. Nice and different song. Intro Chill very upbeat. …And Da Livin Is Es - I used to hate this song, but now it’s one of my favorites. Am I Close Enough had me crying as I was able to relate so well. Vocals of Soul Ballet in Get It On!!! really capture me and are set perfectly to the rhythm. When She Moves catches attention immediately, ’round 1201 has a beautifully haunting disco flavor. There’s A Storm Coming is a song that will not reduce you to tears but leave you thinking long after Man and Woman have ended. Other tracks are good but your best bet is to stick with Walking’ Thru The Rain. Her Mood is simple, dignified and effective, Soul Ballet refusing to over-emote, and demonstrating that less is more.
