Steve Coleman and Five Elements’s debut, ‘Def Trance Beat (Modalities of Rhythm)’, does not fit easily into one genre. IF YOU LIKE ALL Steve Coleman and Five Elements’S SONG GO FOR IT! There is no doubt that Steve Coleman and Five Elements has talent. Steve Coleman and Five Elements is one of my favourite bands of all time.
Def Trance Beat (Modalities of Rhythm) couldn’t start better than with the up up-beat title track .
Flint had me crying as I was able to relate so well. Jeannine’s Sizzling has a gorgeous instrumental sound, which lets Steve Coleman and Five Elements’s strong vocals come to the fore. Such hits like Multiplicity Of Approaches will leave you hooked. Voice and instruments in Pad Thai complement each other. Patterns Of Force is beautiful, yet underrated track. Salt Peanuts has a beautifully haunting disco flavor. Outside of the singles, my favorite song on Def Trance Beat (Modalities of Rhythm) is The Khu. Music of The Mantra is gentle, never overbearing. Verifiable Pedagogy is the first taste of the new album.
