‘The Tankard’ kicks the album off with a blast of pure pop energy. On The Tankard album, Tankard have renewed their membership in the ‘if it ain’t broke…’ school of songwriting. Since completing 1995’s ‘Grave New World’, Tankard fulfilled their contract with SixSteps records and where under no obligation to release another album. The Tankard touched my soul like nothing else.
- I like this one.
It is succeeded by an outstanding track, however: Minds On The Moon, which shows, blatantly, how much Tankard has evolved as a singer. The Story Of Mr. Cruel is simply cool. Close Encounter as well as many of songs is a short story in miniature. Only one song from The Tankard named Poshor Golovar really got me. Tankard allows each song to breathe and flourish. This track is just a stunning masterpiece. Fuck Christmas - For me, this is the best of the album. Although I prefer the faster paced music, I think Positive is my favorite song on The Tankard. Hope is an upbeat song with a constant snare hit.
