twelve years ago, The Benedictine Monks of Santa Domingo de Silos briefly lived up to their terrific name, with an insanely addictive hit single called “Jucundare Filla Sion”. Since completing 1994’s ‘Viderunt Omnes’, The Benedictine Monks of Santa Domingo de Silos fulfilled their contract with Capitol Records and where under no obligation to release another album. Chant Noel carries a very emotional theme throughout the album. Smart music for smart people.
This is the kind of song I think of when I think of The Benedictine Monks of Santa Domingo de Silos.
It is succeeded by an outstanding track, however: Jucundare Filla Sion, which shows, blatantly, how much The Benedictine Monks of Santa Domingo de Silos has evolved as a singer. Song De Ore Leonis is actually a funny song. Tul Sunt Caell as well as many of songs is a short story in miniature. Viderunt Omnes is the album’s biggest hit, I think. Zelus Domus Tuae is simply marvelous. I think Verbum Caro Factum Est is the best song The Benedictine Monks of Santa Domingo de Silos has ever done. Hodle Christus Natus Est is the most memorable and cool. Don’t judge Oul Manducat on the first listening. Gloria, Laus Et Honor is a romantic if not formulaic ditty. Hodle Nobis Caelorum Rex is a song that takes you on the journey before it reaches the conclusion. Hodle Nobis De Caelo has a beautifully haunting disco flavor. Listening to In Principio you can hear that The Benedictine Monks of Santa Domingo de Silos has still amazing chemistry with band members. The Benedictine Monks of Santa Domingo de Silos is one of artists that allow his songs like Super Flumina Babylonis to stand on their own and be heard. I hope to keep hearing The Benedictine Monks of Santa Domingo de Silos works for a long time to come. Gloria In Excelsis Deo is a great opener for Chant Noel. Alleluia, Domine In Virtute Tua the elegant and beautiful song on the album is hard to describe. I love the melodic melody of Respice, Domine and to this day it makes me feel good. Alleluia, Oportebat is possibly the most mysterious and inexplicable track The Benedictine Monks of Santa Domingo de Silos ever produced. Rorate Caell Desuper had me crying as I was able to relate so well. Puerl Hebraeorum is a amazing sing-along.
