Lead single “Saddle Tramp” and “Sweet Lousiana” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. It’s a brave and brilliant refocusing of The Charlie Daniels Band energies, virtually a rebirth. I am not a real Rock music type of person, but i have to admit ‘Roots Remain (cd1)’ really is amazing. is really the reason why I recommend buying Roots Remain (cd1).
Sweet Lousiana is beautiful, yet underrated track. Don’t judge Dixie On My Mind on the first listening. Wichita Jail is almost impossible to review. Birmingham Blues is a song to enjoy for years to come. Outside of the singles, my favorite song on Roots Remain (cd1) is Texas. Long Haired Country Boy is the first taste of the new album. Funky Junky presents the marvelous mix of instruments on Roots Remain (cd1). Caballo Diablo makes a person feel excellent. The Charlie Daniels Band is one of artists that allow his songs like Trudy to stand on their own and be heard. So much energy, so exciting a sound.The South’s Gonna Do It Again is a song to savor, to listen to from every angle. This is one hell of a track. This is the most melodic ambitious and satisfying track in Roots Remain (cd1). Then, Now And Until The End is flawed, nonetheless pretty good song.
