After seeing Rude Boys Outa Jail, I had to have a good The Specials cd. It’s natural for The Specials to take a stab at ‘Rude Boys Outa Jail’ considering her long-professed love for Army of Lovers. The Specials’s debut, ‘Best of 1996′, does not fit easily into one genre. Another great offering from The Specials.
- I used to hate this song, but now it’s one of my favorites.
A Message To You Rudy is a strong cut, one of many. Rat Race is one of the best records ever. This is the kind of song I think of when I think of The Specials. This track is just fantastic from start to finish. Why is an upbeat song with a constant snare hit. What sets I Can’t Stand It apart is The Specials’s innovative and organic way of creating atmospheres. Man At C&A is the more seemingly obscure song on Best of 1996 that bear up best to repeated listening. One of the more genuine-sounding songs is Do The Dog. I find myself hearing bits of Too Much Too Young here and there throughout my waking hours. I’ve found myself listening to Monkey Man back to back and back many times. Little Bitch - This happy song is an ode to optimism and an anthem. War Crimes is worth the money. It’s very catchy and easy to get into which is what you want in a song. When I listen to Concrete Jungle in my car when traffic ain’t going so good. This track is a great song that still never gets old.
