This disc has all of the essential Zao classics. Zao had quite a long carriere and they made many hits. Lead single “Breath Of The Black Muse” and “The Rising End (The First Prophecy)” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. I wish that “The Funeral Of God” album was instrumental.
gives taste of what makes Zao special as a musician.
The Rising End (The First Prophecy) is the first taste of the new album. The Last Revelation (The Last Prophecy) pretty much defines how I feel spiritually. The Last Song From Zion great lyrics, dark, deep, angry and cool.Live…From The Funeral Of God is the more seemingly obscure song on The Funeral Of God that bear up best to repeated listening. The song The Lesser Lights Of Heaven ending is my favorite… so catchy! Excellent vocals and musical performances. Praise The War Machine is nothing but pure genius. The first time I listened to Truly, Truly, This Is The End I was struck by its perfect sound. I Lay Sleepless In My Grave is a very catchy tune. First time I heard Psalm Of The City Of The Dead was on radio driving in my car and sonically it just sounded amazing.
